This disaster is now unfolding. This is not a drill.
It is no longer politicking, electioneering, or environmental and safety management, and is it certainly not kosher (that’s for Oberst EricA).
I have written numerous posts on the insane behaviour of TasWater and the respective Liberal ministers vis-à-vis the decommissioning of the heritage Waratah Reservoir but the doomsday moment is now with us!
Background:
CEO of GBE has PhD in OH&S – Tasmanian Times
Burn Waratah Burn – Tasmanian Times
EricA Arboretum – Tasmanian Times
Taswater has started the decommissioning of the reservoir and the images are truly disturbing – no water in the sluice to the town lakes, mud clearly visible and little water visible from the dam wall but lots of dead trees etc
A local resident has made this comment to the Waratah Wynyard Council – The (Waratah) Dam Busters – Tasmanian Times
And on the weekend of 21 November a couple of the weir boards were removed and the top lake was diminishing in volume before council officers intervened.
A disaster is imminent and only five days to go before the anniversary of Philosopher Smith saving Tasmania from being annexed to Victoria – As Abel Tasman Said: ‘What Anniversary?’ – Tasmanian Times
So what is the state government, TasWater and/or the Waratah Wynyard Council doing to save the Waratah community from a tragic death like the platypus, the trout and the burrowing crayfish?
BINGO for the man who guessed ZIP ZILCH ZERO NADA NICHIVO NULA.
This is best summed up by Simon and Garfunkel in Sound of Silence
The Sound of Silence
Hello Waratah, my old friend
I’ve come to ignore you yet again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was rorting
And the money that was planted in my hand
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of pokie stalls
‘Neath the halo of a Farrell clamp
I turned my wallet to the money ramp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a winners’ light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw
Millions of dollars, maybe more
Members talking without speaking
Members listening without hearing
Members writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence
“Fools,” said I, “You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you”
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
And the Members bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, “The words of the people
Are written on the reservoir wall
And the Atheneum Hall
And whispered in the sounds of silence
Where the hell are you #PapiG?
