Launch and Dinner: Exploring the Energy Transition and Building Resilient, Climate-Safe Communities

The fluxus campaign is proud to announce its official launch, focusing on how the energy transition can create opportunities for resilient, climate-safe and thriving communities. The launch event will feature an evening of local food, live music and inspiring conversation aimed at sparking change in Tasmania’s energy future.

The event, hosted at the iconic Peacock Theatre in Hobart, will offer guests a canapé dinner prepared by renowned Chef Luke Burgess, accompanied by performances from talented local musicians. At the heart of the evening, two key thought leaders—Christine Milne and Helena Norberg-Hodge—will engage in a powerful conversation on a vital question: How do we ignite the environmental movement in mainstream politics and society?

Christine Milne is a former Australian Senator and the former leader of the Australian Greens, known for her advocacy on environmental issues, climate change and social justice. Helena Norberg-Hodge is a global thought leader and pioneer of the localisation movement, an author and founder of the Local Futures, working to promote sustainable development and the revitalisation of local economies.

As Tasmania moves toward a regenerative future, the evening will explore the intersection of environmental movement and energy policy, reflecting on the urgency of climate action. With a focus on building resilience and wellbeing for communities and the planet, Milne and Norberg-Hodge will discuss how policy, culture and collective action can come together to create lasting change. The conversation will ask whether we can harness the transformative energy of the 1960s to push for the systemic shifts required in today’s political landscape.

fluxus is calling for a future where communities can thrive through renewed energy solutions. The campaign aims to provide a platform for open dialogue, community-driven action and policy change that supports a cleaner, safe and resilient Tasmania.
