Fifteen Years of Tassels and Tease
Audiences will be treated to a flurry of rhinestones and flashes of flesh, as burlesque performers from across Tasmania hit the stage of the historic Peacock Theatre.
The event is all in aid of celebrating fifteen years since the creation of Tasmanian burlesque company Miss Kitty’s Meow.
The new blues and burlesque show includes performances from producer Grace Cherry, alongside the likes of Scarlett Jezebel and Ruby La Red. Live music is provided by Sam & the 78s.
The event, Fifteen Years of Tassels and Tease, celebrates the achievements of Miss Kitty’s Meow and the success of the business over fifteen years.
“Like any small business, thriving – let alone surviving- even during turbulent periods like a pandemic – has been no mean feat.
There has always been an appetite for cabaret style events in Tasmania.
“It’s about creating a rhinestone clad environment for people to step into; one where all bodies, and all versions of sexy and sexuality are celebrated,” said owner and performer Grace Cherry.
“I am always appreciative of our amazing audiences. I chat to people who remember coming to our first gig way back in 2008. Those people have really been the champions for the kind of burlesque we see today.
“When I started performing 15 years ago, there wasn’t really a scene in Hobart.
“But what did exist was this sub culture of really cool, creative and body positive people that want fun, adult entertainment that is representative of all bodies, ages, genders and expressions,” she said.
“In this show we are celebrating not just keeping an arts business running for 15 years. But we will also celebrate and party with the people that have championed burlesque and Miss Kitty’s Meow from the start.
It’ll be the most fun night out, with live music, a super glamorous audience and a truckload of sequins and feathers,” she added.
