The Peacock Theatre is set to experience a flourish of feathers as graduating students from Miss Kitty’s Meow hit the stages of the historic venue.

“Since COVID has hit, burlesque students have been really impacted,” said producer Grace Cherry. “A big part of learning any form of art and performance is being able to share your work.”

“Spaces and physical distancing has made this really hard for some of our groups. For many students this is the first time they will have appeared on stage in 18 months or more.”

The showcase event will also feature emerging burlesque performers making their stage debut.

”Professional development can be challenging in a smaller state like Tasmania,” Cherry said. “We have four emerging performers that have dedicated time over the last 6 months to really focus on their performance style. This is a great opportunity for audiences to see what it takes to start performing burlesque and to see first-hand the start of a new generation of performers.”

“Plus it’s just a fun night out,” she added. “With a truckload of sequins and feathers, you just can’t be bored!”
