Huonville to Franklin pathway – Huon Valley Council is currently assessing the feasibility of developing a shared pathway along the Huon River. The proposed path will traverse crown land for approximately 7.5km along the river. Please see here for more background and for the online survey.

sentencing sex offenders – the government is seeking public comment on draft legislation to establish provisions in the Sentencing Act 1997 that will enable serious sex and violence offenders to be declared High Risk Offenders. The changes would enable the Supreme Court to impose various conditions on HROs such as supervision after release. Information on the bill and making submissions is here.

Glenorchy economy – Glenorchy City Council is talking about rejuvenating the local economy. The approach ‘includes five objectives and fifty actions that we think will help create jobs, encourage new businesses, and attract visitors and investors to our City’. Have your say on the draft strategy via the online survey.

Fingal fire assistance – Recovery and Restoration Grants have been made available to support people in the Break O’Day Council area whose homes have been damaged or destroyed by the Fingal bushfires. Grants are available for 3 months and you can find more information here.

TasWater – it must be survey season as the water boyos have one too. TasWater are asking questions about water and sewerage services to help them with their planning. The general thrust is whether customers are prepared to pay more, and for which, service improvements. The survey is here.
