Media release – Tasmanian Electoral Commission, 11 July 2025

One week to polling day

With one week to go before polling day on Saturday 19 July, almost 54,000 electors have already voted in the 2025 state election — more than double the 26,000 reported at the same time in 2024.

Early voting is available to electors who cannot vote on polling day, and the overlap with school holidays is likely driving this surge.

Applications for postal voting closed at 4:00 pm today, with over 30,000 ballot packs mailed to electors.

By the end of Thursday 10 July, 38,628 electors had attended a pre-poll centre. A breakdown by division is as follows:

Bass: 6,323
Braddon: 9,422
Clark: 8,736
Franklin: 7,170
Lyons: 6,977

More pre-poll centres opening Monday

Electors who can’t vote on polling day can attend one of fifteen pre-poll centres that will be open from Monday. A list of all pre-poll locations is available on the TEC website. Interstate and overseas electors are eligible to vote by phone.

Polling day locations now available

On polling day, electors will be able to cast their vote at any one of the 256 polling places across Tasmania. The TEC website provides a full listing of polling places in each division, along with an interactive map. Electors may find their local venue has changed and are encouraged to check the website for their nearest polling place.

Assisted voting options

Electors who have missed today’s deadline for postal vote applications and may have difficulty accessing a polling place can still vote on polling day, as polling managers are authorised to issue votes to people in a vehicle. Electors with a print disability are also eligible to vote using the telephone voting service.
