Launceston now has bragging rights as the second Tasmanian town set to receive its own board since the launch of the Monopoly: Hobart Edition in 2021.

Locals and visitors alike will be able to see familiar sites, institutions and hidden gems featured on the squares of the board game.

From the beauty of Cataract Gorge to the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, to the rolling vineyards of the Tamar Valley wine region, the Launceston Edition promises to provide recognition to many of the features that make the city unique.

Could the scenic Alexandra Suspension Bridge become the new Mayfair? Or will the bustling Harvest Market find its home among the Orange properties? Would you like to buy Seaport if you landed on it?

Launceston residents can now have their say on which locations should make the board by emailing their suggestions to [email protected].

Jaime Lee de Niet, representative from Winning Moves, manufacturers of the Launceston Edition under license from Hasbro, said:  “It’s been a few years since we launched a Tasmania regional board, and we’re thrilled to be back in this beautiful state to dedicate a Monopoly edition to the great city of Launceston.

“From Boag’s Brewery and City Park to iconic events like Festivale, we can’t wait to see what the community wants to feature on the board.”

The traditional board game claims to have more than 1 billion players across 114 countries with boards in 47 languages.

The new Monopoly: Launceston Edition will be available from leading retailers across Tasmania in March 2026.

The Hobart Edition sells for around $71 and features local places, hotels and attractions such as Franklin Square, Bellerive Oval (then Blundstone Arena) and Cascade Brewery.
