Correspondence between Macquarie Point Development Corporation and the Tasmanian Planning Commission published on the TPC website completely refutes the key argument made against the Commission in so-called ‘legal advice’ released last week.
The documents show that back in January MPDC already trying to convince the Planning Commission the scope of their assessment was too broad. Their argument was comprehensively dismissed.
Following the Planning Commission’s damning report released last week, MPDC has gone and paid a multinational law firm to make the same failed argument they made months ago – even though it has already been roundly rejected.
This exchange is proof positive the government’s ‘legal advice’ isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. It’s simply a pathetic attempt to justify the move towards special approval legislation for the stadium.
