The public can experience the full reveal of Alicia’s work starting from 4 September.

Additional details, including Alicia’s full statement and bio, can be found at www.hobartcity.com.au/InsideOUT.

“Showcasing Alicia King’s captivating work in Franklin Square brings art into the heart of our city,” said Hobart Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds:

“This exhibition offers a unique opportunity for the public to engage with thought-provoking art that explores our connection to the natural world.”

The artist explained that her work attempts to brings elements of remote Tasmanian wilderness into the urban cityscape.

“These sculptures were mostly created from geological formations that I cast on-site in the desert-like mountains surrounding Queenstown, on Tasmania’s rugged west coast,” King said.

“I spent days walking across the mountainsides, looking for forms with a mystery about them, as well as a natural beauty.”

“The installation invites viewers to contemplate our relationship to the natural environment, larger unseen forces and complex natural and human ecologies.”
