Community update: St David’s Park

Statement from City of Hobart Acting CEO Neil Noye:

“City of Hobart officers were made aware of a fire in St David’s Park which occurred overnight.

“Officers are assessing the impact of the fire which caused the loss of possessions for people experiencing homelessness and some damage to a giant sequoia heritage-listed tree.

“Officers will work with the Salvation Army to support people without a home, while also monitoring the impact on this public space.

“The City will also work with Tasmania Police.

“The tree has suffered some damage requiring City officers to fence the area off to public access to allow our arborists to start work on the rehabilitation of this tree immediately.”
