The District Nurses announces new, improved podiatry service for clients
The District Nurses is one of Tasmania’s oldest community organisations committed to caring for the community and providing support for thousands of Tasmanians.
The District Nurses helps take pressure off the Tasmanian health system by providing a range of exceptional health care services in people’s homes and in regional Tasmania. Today, the District Nurses is announcing improvements to its important foot care service.
Under 200 people in southeast Tasmania access foot care services from the District Nurses and from later this month those services will be provided by local podiatrists.
The District Nurses CEO, Justine Barwick, said the change would ensure people can continue to access the care they need in the community.
“By providing the right care in the right location we’re taking pressure off the health system and helping people to live their best life in their local community,” she said.
“Currently under 200 people access our foot care service and it’s important that the services and treatment they receive continues to evolve and improve to meet their changing needs.
“This change is about providing more allied health support to look after our clients. We know the cost of living is a significant issue for everyone and we’ve worked hard to make sure that there will be no new or additional costs for this service.
“We’re reaching out to our clients to explain the changes, to answer any questions and to make sure the change to the new service is as seamless as possible.”
Ms Barwick encouraged any client who has questions to call the District Nurses on (03) 6208 0500.
