COUNCILS ANNOUNCE APPOINTMENT OF GENERAL MANAGER
With the impending retirement of Council’s long-serving General Manager, Gerald Monson, and following a thorough recruitment process, the Kentish and Latrobe Councils are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Jason Browne to the position for a five-year term.
An extensive recruitment campaign was undertaken nationally with assistance from Local Government NSW Management Solutions and, after a rigorous candidate assessment, several applicants were interviewed by the Council’s recruitment panel.
In previous roles, Mr Browne’s primary focus has been on corporate governance within local government, specifically with the Glenorchy City Council and Huon Valley Council.
He also worked in several roles with TasWater leading corporate strategy, business performance, and innovation, and has held positions in the energy, banking, and the private sector.
With a Masters in Business Administration, a Bachelor of Economics, and being a Fellow of CPA Australia, Mr Browne brings a wealth of experience and a strong skill set to engage and lead a committed team and set the future direction of the Councils during a period of transition and ongoing growth.
“We are excited to welcome Mr Browne as our new General Manager,” said Mayor Kate Haberle of the Kentish Council. “His extensive experience, coupled with his track record of effective leadership and innovation, make him an ideal candidate to lead our Councils into the future. We are confident that under his guidance, both the Kentish and Latrobe Councils will continue to thrive and serve our communities effectively.”
“We are grateful to the councillors directly involved in the recruitment process for their dedication and commitment in recommending the appointment of an individual with the capacity to lead a team that is dedicated, innovative, and committed to the future of local government in the Latrobe and Kentish municipalities,” added Mayor Peter Freshney of Latrobe Council.
Mr Browne will commence with Council on 14 May enabling a period of transition before commencing in the role of General Manager on 8 June.
The councils welcome Mr Browne to the position and look forward to his leadership and contribution to both councils and their communities at this pivotal time.
