Candidates announced for the 2024 Tasmanian Legislative Council Elections

Candidates were announced today for the periodic Legislative Council elections in Hobart and Prosser, and the by-election in Elwick.

Sixteen candidates will contest seats in this election, including 4 in Elwick, 7 in Hobart and 5 in Prosser.

Voting on Saturday 4 May 2024 will be compulsory for more than 75,000 Tasmanian electors, with figures for each division as follows:

Elwick: 23,669
Hobart: 24,538
Prosser: 27,419

Next week, all electors listed on the election rolls in Elwick, Hobart and Prosser will be mailed an information pack. This will include the names of all candidates, details for early voting and polling locations on polling day.

An elector card with a unique QR code will also be provided, which can be used at polling locations to speed up the process of finding each elector on the roll.
