   Beautiful truths at last!

   I hope that ad is viewed by a global audience. It’s an honest, refreshing and disturbing insight into the real state of Tasmania. No wonder smarter Tasmanians are leaving this state. It isn’t about higher paying jobs for many; it is about the endless lies, the corruption and conservatism that invokes a sense of despair in many people. It really is insanity.

   I remember attending a party at a television news reporter’s house with around 20 or more people in the late 1990s. I was introduced to two smart and friendly women. I asked them if they were locals and they said “No, but we live here now.” The host of the party overheard our conversation, tapped me on the shoulder, looked around the room and said “Rod, you are the only real Tasmanian in the room.” I laughed a lot and replied that that is very funny – because I don’t live here.

   Tasmania, love it and loath it.

   It’s witty, but it’s the kind of humor that makes you choke on your laughter as you listen.

   I’m not from Tasmania so I couldn’t care less. But I love your island and it makes me sad to watch you sell your future .. which is also part of the future of the world.
