TCCI calls for major parties to support its election priorities

The TCCI is the voice of business in Tasmania and has released its election priorities on behalf of the more than 40,000 businesses in Tasmania.

TCCI CEO, Michael Bailey, said he wanted the next Government of Tasmania to be unashamedly pro-business and encouraged both major parties to adopt the key priorities outlined by the business community.

“The TCCI election priorities have been developed in consultation with members and show the major parties exactly what policies businesses want the next Government of Tasmania to deliver on,” Mr Bailey said.

“There are four key priorities outlined in the document we are releasing today:
·      Energy policy
·      Governance
·      Cost of doing business
·      Improving the participation rate

“The TCCI sees each one of these issues as fundamental to Tasmania’s future.

“Every three months we survey our members and ask them what their major issues are.  The answers in recent years have been clear – the cost of doing business, the cost of living, skills shortages and labour supply, government stability and the availability and price of power are all consistently rated in the top issues.

“These are the issues that the TCCI election priorities tackles and we are calling on both Jeremy Rockliff and Rebecca White to endorse these priorities and adopt them as policy.”
