An item on the Agenda of the George Town Council on Tuesday 23 January 2024, has raised further questions amongst the George Town Ratepayers about the ongoing actions, and in-actions, of their Council and elected Councillors.
Agenda Item 16.4 of Closed Council is the 6 monthly Progress Review of their General Manager Shane Power.
Power came to the attention of the wider community following a very public incident on 5 August 2023 after which Tasmanian Times published his fall from grace.
The timing of this review is raising questions given an external investigation commissioned by the Councillors into the alleged actions of Power is still underway. It is understood the findings of that investigation were meant to be before Council prior to Christmas, however no report as yet has been provided to the Councillors.
