Taranna Crash Update

One person has died and two have been seriously injured in a crash at Taranna this morning.

Around 8.30am emergency services responded to reports of a crash between a vehicle and a motorcycle on the Arthur Highway.

Sadly, the man riding the motorcycle died at the scene of the crash. The woman pillion passenger sustained critical injuries and was flown to the Royal Hobart Hospital.

The woman driver of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Royal Hobart Hospital.

The road remains partially blocked with diversion in place for light vehicles. Delays of around 40minutes are occurring in the area.

Police are conducting a crash investigation.

Sassafras Crash Update

Police are investigating the cause of a fatal crash at Sassafras this afternoon.

Around 12.10pm emergency services responded to reports of a crash between a station wagon vehicle and a motorcycle near the intersection of Bass Highway and Native Plains Road.

Sadly, the rider of the motorcycle, a woman in her 40s, died at the scene of the crash. The pillion passenger on the motorcycle, a 9-year-old, sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Launceston General Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle was not physically injured.

Police are conducting a crash investigation and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
