Grievous bodily harm charge upgraded to murder

Yesterday police charged a 25-year-old man from Warrane with causing grievous bodily harm to a 10-month-old baby that has sadly died.

This charge has now been upgraded to murder.

The man will re-appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court today.

Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and loved ones of the baby.

Sadly, the 10-month-old baby who presented to the Royal Hobart Hospital with critical injuries on Friday has died.

Man Charged with Causing grievous bodily harm to child – 3 December

Police have charged a 25-year-old man from Warrane with causing grievous bodily harm to child.

The child presented to the Royal Hobart Hospital on Friday and remains in a critical condition.

The man was detained to appear before the court today.

Police including officers from CIB, Forensics and Uniform are continuing to investigate.

Police investigating what is believed to be serious assault on young child – 1 December 

Bellerive CIB is investigating what is believed to be a serious assault on a young child in Southern Tasmania.

Police were called to the Royal Hobart Hospital around 5:20am this morning after a child presented with critical injuries that are believed to be suspicious.

The child had been transported by ambulance from a residence in Warrane around 1:10am.

Police including officers from CIB, Forensics and Uniform are investigating and conducting examinations. This is expected to take some time.

The child remains in the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition.
