Update – Fire at Zero Davey Apartment Hotel
Fire Service Investigators have determined a fire at Zero Davey Apartment Hotel on Saturday night to be accidental and started in the kitchen of a restaurant located on the ground floor.
Around 100 guests were evacuated from the apartment hotel and temporarily relocated to the Grand Chancellor Hotel after the fire broke out.
Deputy Regional Chief, Phil Smith said the support from the nearby hotel was greatly appreciated and we thank them for their support.
“The evacuation was challenging due to an electrical issue in the fire detection and evacuation warning system, which resulted in the audible alarms malfunctioning.
“Investigations into the malfunction are continuing.”
