Rockliff’s Road to Ruin
Matt Denholm’s exclusive piece in The Australian has laid bare the chaos and dysfunction within the Rockliff minority Liberal government.
The piece revealed that the Rockliff desertions don’t stop at elected members, with an exodus of senior staff, internal discontent and frustration with the Premier and his Chief of Staff pointing to a government sinking fast.
The government has taken its eye off the key priorities for the state and are fighting among themselves.
Sadly the people being impacted by this behaviour are the people they were elected to serve, the people of Tasmania.
They’re focused on things like building a stadium and not on things that are the key bread and butter issues for the people of Tasmania such as health, housing, cost of living, power prices and education.
The Premier and his Chief of Staff appear to be having the same impact on this Liberal government as Tony Abbott and his chief of staff Peta Credlin had on a disastrous former Federal Liberal government.
Tasmania cannot afford to have a dysfunctional government like the Abbott government and our own version of The Road to Ruin.
As Mr Denholm alludes, it can’t be much longer before Mr Rockliff’s highly ambitious ‘loyal’ deputy Mr Ferguson decides enough is enough and challenges for the leadership.
