“This has become even more critical given the strength of the construction pipeline and the need for skilled workers with women continuing to be under-represented.”
The 2023 conference Fearless Festival is open to all young women in Tasmania providing a fantastic opportunity to participate in a range of activities and present opportunities they can access.
It is expected that over 400 young women will attend the conference over the two days with the highlight this year of sponsors providing tours of actual workplaces to see trades in action, factories buzzing with activity, vocational hands-on experiences, master classes, and a host of other hands-on visits for young women.
This year’s guests and guest speakers include Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC, Governor of Tasmania; Major General Natasha Fox; Caitlin Radford, 2022 Tasmanian Young Farmer of the Year; Hope Woolridge; Ainstie Wagner, Executive Chef Government House; STEM instigator Dr Bianca Capra and for the first time a patisserie master class with chef/pastry chef Kirsten Bacon, and local Devonport star Liv Pizzerani from Pizzeranis Cucina in Devonport.
Two years ago, someone commented that the AMWU’s Fearless festival was the largest collection of successful women in Tasmania at one event. Now it has doubled in size and over 50 career paths and employment opportunities are on show. These include National Security, cheffing, performing arts and more, this year’s AMWU’s Festival has got it all.
The annual free Women’s Fearless Festival Gala dinner features 5 leading women who have super achieved in their fields and industries.
