Tasmanian Whisky Week 8 – 14 August 2022
Celebrating the achievements and craft of Tasmanian distillers. Tasmanian Whisky Week (TWW) is a celebration of the numerous Tasmanian distilleries, their spirits and whisky. Promoting Tasmania as Australia’s foremost whisky region and recognising the importance of Tasmanian spirits. This is an event produced by the Tasmanian Whisky and Spirits Association (TWSA)
The first TWW was held in 2016 and since that inaugural event, with a handful of distilleries it has grown to over 30 distilleries participating in events held in the north and south of the state. It has now evolved to become a significant tourism event celebrating Tasmanian whisky, distillers and regionality. Over 1000 guests now attend events, attracting national and international guests.
Growth in Tasmania’s spirits over the past few years has set the scene for future expansion with many more exciting Tasmanian whisky and spirits varieties to enter the market. The industry is growing by approximately 20% each year and there are more than 70 distilleries in Tasmania.
This year the industry is celebrating 30 years of distilling in Tasmania, with the first license granted to Bill and Lyn Lark in 1982.
Tasmania is the whisky destination of Australia, and Tasmanian Whisky Week is the event to celebrate.
Event Overview
Seven days of events held in the north and south of the state covering diverse and engaging events. Over 30 distilleries attending events over 15 events, culminating in the flagship event, the Tasmanian Spirit Showcase at PW1, Hobart on Saturday, 13 August. The events are held in heritage and culturally interesting venues across the state. Our whisky-matched dinner is back featuring Analiese Gregory at Killara Distillery in Richmond. Meet the maker events in Launceston and Hobart, whisky masterclasses and drams and cocktails in various venues around the state.
