Media release – Hobart Wine Show, 30 May 2022

Entries open for 2022 Snap Printing Royal Hobart Wine Show

Entries open today (Monday May 30) in one of Australia’s major annual wine events – the 49th Snap Printing Royal Hobart Wine Show.

Entries are due to close on July 24 with judging to take place on September 12-15.

A total of 46 classes will be judged, ranging from vintage dry whites and vintage dry reds, to fortified wines, sparkling wines, brandy, and no-to-low alcohol grape beverages.

The Wine Show is usually judged at the Hobart Showground, but because the Showground redevelopment is imminent, this year it is being taken to the Iron Creek Winery at Sorell (394 Arthur Highway). Following the judging, there will be a trade tasting on 16th September at Iron Creek Winery.

Wine producers who wish to enter should go to the Hobart Showground website: https://www.hobartshowground.com.au/royal-hobart-wine-show.

On behalf of the Royal Agricultural Society of Tasmania, the Chair of the organising committee this year is Greg Melick, and the Chair of the Judging panels is Jeremy Dineen.

As the wine industry recovers from a series of set-backs in recent years, including Covid-19, corporate sponsorship this year is strong. The Show has attracted five major sponsors and 18 other sponsors and trophy donors.

Gravitas Energy is providing a return flight to France for two for the Best Pinot Noir Dry Red, so that the prize recipients can visit the home of the Pinot Noir variety.
