Quarantine breach
The 25-year-old man charged with a covid related offence has this morning been granted police bail and returned to the Travelodge Hobart to complete the remainder of his hotel quarantine.
The man will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on 15 December at 10am.
The man was being transferred from the Ibis to the Travelodge Hobart Airport when he allegedly ran from the bus on arrival about 4.50pm.
Police were called and apprehended the man nearby about 30 minutes later.
The 25-year-old had initially been identified as an unauthorised traveller when he arrived in the state from Sydney on 25 October and placed into hotel quarantine.
Following further information being received in relation to his personal circumstances, and as he had no suitable premises in NSW to return to, he was authorised to stay in Tasmania. As he did not have suitable premises in Tasmania in which he could complete his quarantine, he was directed to complete 14 days in a government quarantine hotel.
The risk to the community is low as the man has returned two negative covid tests prior to the incident and had no contact with the community during that time.
