Hive is the Central Coast region’s first dedicated cultural precinct and will serve as both a community hub and a drawcard destination for visitors to the region.
Located on an underutilised block formerly home to a large shed, it is just a short walk from the centre of town.
Hive has been developed by the Central Coast Council, with funding from the Commonwealth and Tasmanian governments.
Inspired by the concept of a beehive, Hive is designed as a space for community to gather, explore, share and grow. The bold undertaking represents a vital new asset for the region.
Hive includes:
- The largest dome planetarium in Tasmania
- The first Tasmanian Science Centre
- The Ulverstone Visitor Information Centre
- The Ulverstone History Museum
- A new Art Gallery
- Workshop spaces for local arts and woodcraft community groups
- and a cafe.
You can find Hive at 50 Main St, Ulverstone.
Opening hours are 10-4 daily, closed Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Anzac Day morning.
