The Royal Agricultural Society of Tasmania is planning a full Royal Hobart Wine Show this year, after the event was scaled back last year due to Covid-19. Entries will open on Monday, 9 August.

It includes, for the first time in Australian capital city wine shows, a new class for low alcohol beverages.

An organising committee of 13, led by James Godfrey of Treasury Wine Estates, is planning a four day judging event at the Hobart Showground from 23 to 26 November.

This year, the wine show has attracted a naming rights sponsor, Snap Printing, as well as three major sponsors and 20 trophy donors and other sponsors.

“Corporate support is amazing as we mount this Show in the midst of an ongoing pandemic,” said the RAST’s CEO, Scott Gadd. “It demonstrates tremendous confidence in the future of our wine sector at a time when wine producers have been struggling due to the pandemic and other set backs.

“It also recognises the role of the Royal Hobart Wine Show in fostering and nurturing excellence in the Tasmanian, and the wider Australian, wine industry.”
