Three Tasmanian cricketers are about to launch a ‘sip and paint’ Pinot & Picasso franchise in Hobart.
Charlie Wakim, Jackson Bird and Jordan Silk are behind the venture in which people of all artistic abilities will have the opportunity to put paint to canvas in a purpose-built art studio on Franklin Wharf.
Each session is hosted by a professional artist, who guides guests through basic painting techniques. Pinot & Picasso Hobart holds a BYO licence, so class participants can bring their favourite indulgence and relax.
The three-hour classes will be scheduled for the public every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Group bookings for the entire studio are also possible.
While the classes have been created with adults in mind, Pinot & Picasso will also offer special events during school holidays to give kids the opportunity to enjoy painting with their friends.
Charlie Wakim, a batsman contracted to the Tasmanian Tigers, said that investing in Pinot & Picasso was a no brainer.
“We saw the immense growth of the business over the last couple of years and have kept an eye on it,” he explained.
“The opportunity came up to open in Hobart and we jumped at the chance as the experience lends itself seamlessly to the culture of Tassie. Fun, light-hearted with a few bevvies and delicious food thrown in… what more could you ask for?!”
“[My favourite part] is the moment when people realise they can paint a little better than they may have expected. Also, just the general good vibes of people being creative and sharing a vino together.”
Each class has a specific theme and there are different levels of difficulty. A ‘grazing box’ of snacks is available to order, although currently the website does not appear to cater for different dietary requirements. A spokesperson for the franchise said it was likely that more options would be available as negotiations progressed with the catering supplier.
Pinot & Picasso Hobart will open on 3 September 2021, becoming the latest of 54 franchises across Australia and New Zealand.
Bookings for Pinot & Picasso classes are required, with prices starting at $59 per person. Participants must be 18+ unless part of a school holiday event. For more information, please visit www.pinotandpicasso.com.au/
