Ten Days on the Island today announced the postponement of Hide the Dog which was to have been presented in the Theatre Royal in nipaluna/Hobart from 19-21 March.

The Trans-Tasman production included performers from Aotearoa/New Zealand who have been prevented from travelling to Australia due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak in Auckland.

Artistic Director Lindy Hume said: “With a heavy heart, we have postponed the world premiere season of Nathan Maynard and Jamie McCaskill’s family show Hide the Dog.

“The Ten Days on the Island team has been looking forward to sharing this centrepiece event for the 2021 festival with Tasmanian audiences and revealing the surprises and delights of the production’s theatrical designs, puppetry and costumes.

“We are doubly disappointed and saddened for our Hide the Dog and Tasmania Performs colleagues who have already been through this scenario in January, with the show’s cancellation at the Sydney Festival due to the Northern Beaches outbreak.

“We trust our audiences will find joy in many of the other performances in the program – especially Leonard’s Beautiful Pictures in the Theatre Royal.”

As no new dates can be locked in at this time, all ticket holders to Hide the Dog will be contacted by Ten Days on the Island’s ticketing team and receive a full refund.

Ten Days on the Island started on Friday 5 March with a stunning event at dawn on the pataway/Burnie foreshore. This week, the festival’s program continues in the north and north-east of Tasmania, with the final weekend in nipaluna/Hobart and the south from 19-21 March.
