Sci Art Walks 3

Beaker Street, Tasmania’s off beat purveyor of science and art experiences, has released a new series of talks that you can enjoy in the state’s great outdoors.

The team behind the annual Beaker Street Festival has unveiled an entirely new winter project called Sci Art Walks. The series of audio science talks encourages listeners to get out into Tasmania’s natural environments that serve as backdrops to the material. This project was released as part of National Science Week.

The recordings featuring unscripted talks by some of the state’s most prominent scientists and cultural icons, and with original music composed and performed by Tasmanian musicians. Each episode pairs with a suggested walking trail, located in parks and reserves around the state.

While the talks will be accessible from anywhere on the world, and free of charge, listeners are encouraged to visit the suggested walking trail if possible.

Currently available talks and walks include:

The Secret Life of Mutton Birds – The Nut, Stanley

Using Maths and Evolution to Connect All Living Things – Cataract Gorge, Launceston
