We know why we’re here, but sometimes Tasmania has had to explain itself to the world.

The Tasmanian lifestyle and advantages of living in Tasmania are depicted from a 1970’s perspective in this 16 minute documentary. It features well-know actor Leonard Teale and includes footage of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, University of Tasmania, Lake Pedder, Australian Newsprint Mills, Electrolytic Zinc Works, Mt Lyell mining, Edgells, Lactos and Tita Fittings.

There are interviews with Kim Boyer (Advisor to the Government on Women’s Affairs), Milan Vyhnalek (Lactos), Senator Brian Harradine, Jack Edwards (Launceston Port Authority) and Peter Sinclair (Directorate of Industrial Development and Trade). It was produced by the Tasmanian State Film Unit for the Directorate of Industrial Development and Trade.
