The Thriving Tasmania sessions held in June and July aimed to engage a diverse range of Tasmanians in a conversation about what a shared future could be for Tasmania and Tasmanians.
Two virtual conversations were held with participants from all backgrounds and parts of the state, giving people the opportunity and a platform through which to talk about what could make Tasmania thrive.
Forum Co-Host and Director of the Tasmanian Way, Jessica Robbins, said the aim of the Thriving Tasmania project was to capture the stories, experiences and wishes of Tasmanians from all backgrounds.
“Bringing together primary school students, change-makers, local government leaders, industry representatives and ordinary Tasmanians we have been able to identify some new priorities for recovery.
“Tasmanians told us and each other that they wanted to see a future that was inclusive, committed to action on climate change, building community, promoting wellbeing, fostering creativity, increasing educational outcomes and embedding a circular economy.
Robbins also remarked that Tasmanians want to see local action towards global goals, including clear plans to realise the UN2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
“Our intention now is to present this report and the views of the participants to the government, the Premier’s Economic and Social Recovery Advisory Council (PESRAC) and others to inform our recovery and planning for the future.” She said they are also looking to ask for a meeting with both the Premier and PESRAC to discuss the report.
