Entries are now being accepted for the 2020 Run The Bridge. The iconic Hobart event will be held on Sunday 23 February. Participants can enter for the traditional 10km run, 5km run, 5km walk and a 1km dash for children.
After a record number of entries in 2019, the Tasman Bridge will again be closed to vehicles for the event.
Run organisers have brought in some new features such as the Brooks Virtual Run. It will enable runners and walkers all over the world to ‘complete’ the course in their own time, where it suits them, but still enable people to engage in the event.
“When people enter online, we’ll send them a Hobart Run The Bridge race bib, medal and instructions,” said Race Director Richard Welsh. “A leaderboard will then run during the month of February and people can cover the distance as many times as they like and send us their times.”
Further innovations for 2020 include an expanding teams concept. There are prizes for the largest Corporate, School and Social groups, along with prizes for the best team names.
“This is the heartbeat of the event: people who are out exercising with friends, families or colleagues. As a society we’re getting unhealthier by the day, but it’s inspiring to see people in their thousands train up and do their best on race day,” Welsh concluded.
The Charity of Choice for 2020 will once again be the Menzies Institute for Medical Research. A donation is made from the event for every participant in the Menzies 5km Walk.
Run The Bridge entries are open online until 22 February 2020.
