It is with great pleasure that we bring you the last VT eNews for 2018. First and foremost I want to wish everyone a safe and relaxing holiday period. A special shout-out to all our Emergency Volunteers, we wish you an uneventful holiday season.

VT has had another huge year in 2018 and I have relished being able to contribute to this over the past few months. I would like to recommend to you a series of resources on understanding the boundaries between your paid and volunteer workforce, this is important, ongoing work for VT.

We have also recently submitted our Budget Priority Statement to the Tasmanian Government. This is the culmination of extensive consultation with our member-base and feedback from our Networking meetings throughout the year. Thank you to everyone involved in assisting us shape the needs for the volunteer sector through this submission.

December 5 marked the launch of the 2019 Tasmanian Volunteering Awards on International Volunteer Day. We encourage everyone to nominate a volunteer in their lives to celebrate and recognise the contribution all our volunteers make to this amazing State of ours.

We look forward to another productive and full year in 2019 promoting the benefits of volunteering and the amazing work of our Volunteer Managers.

Warmest Regards for the Season,

Lisa and the VT Team

The Awards now in their fourth year, are Tasmania’s only state-wide awards program that formally recognises excellence in volunteering and showcases inspiring stories of individual and organisational volunteering across our State.

The Premier said “The Government is a strong supporter of our wonderful volunteers and volunteer organisations and the Awards are about reflecting on the important contribution Volunteers make to our State.

“Communities and individuals are encouraged to take the time to nominate a volunteer in the 10 available award categories.”

Nominations are now officially open! Visit us online see all the Award Categories and to start nominating.

The Awards would not be possible without the support of our sponsors. Our gratitude goes to Anglicare Tasmania, Aurora Energy, Bulk Nutrients, CatholicCare Tasmania, Hydro Tasmania, Lifeline Tasmania, Spirit of Tasmania and TasTAFE; and of course our major partner Tasmanian Government and our wonderful media partner Southern Cross Austereo.
