Tasmanian Times

Bear with Tassie Times … Tech Andrew Grierson is going on holidays til early November … unfortunate timing … but he enormously deserves the break as he’s worked tirelessly on TT to make the transition as smooth as possible …

‘Recent comments’  a favourite of the old site will then be restored …

Be very patient …

I have had no problem in using mobile devices to read comments and to post comments. In fact I found it so convenient that virtually all my posts since April 2015 have been via my smartphone.

Also: there are over 100 missing comments on the “BOOKS Murder by the Prosecution book launch”

It shows only 90 comments .. but it used to have over 200.

People may find that Firefox is a better platform to run TT on. A better browser overall anyway.

    Moderator’s response:

Alan, Firefox (and Waterfox and many others) are browsers, not platforms.

      Definition of a Platform

“In IT, a platform is any hardware or software used to host an application or service. An application platform, for example, consists of hardware, an operating system and coordinating programs that use the instruction set for a particular processor or microprocessor. In this case, the platform creates a foundation that ensures object code will execute successfully.”

Not being a geek, terminology doesn’t really bother me …

What is a problem is TT’s current issues with Chrome that prevent access. I wonder how many others are experiencing the same issue? Lucky I have Firefox as well.

Alan, your personal browser issue with Chrome has nothing to do with Tasmanian Times. They are entirely separate entities.

I never had a problem on your old platform …

Alan, the information below applied during the changeover. It is outdated now.

If one is interested in the local Hobart council election mess, and the State of affairs Ms Hickey has taken from Premier Hodgman, then type in for access to article “Tas Times Marti Zucco for Mayor” and note my comments on the above.

As TT has not offered any other more straight forward choice of access to the article, I invite others to comment about important matters such as the council elections and the revolutionary stance by Ms Hickey in taking on the Premier’s role by offering valid information to the public which is usually withheld by the Liberals for obscure political reasons.

Hickey’s comments on Ferguson are valid, and some changes to his role as a Minister are urgently required. It may allow Ferguson to focus on Health alone where the requirement for improvement is urgent!

There is another subject of interest that should create a storm with Yongbei Tang who is keen to “nail” a seat in Council expecting to be backed mainly by young Chinese non citizens studying in Tasmania. We are at the point where China is getting too much power, and the nation has to tread a careful path and not to become overly obsessed with trust in China itself.

    Don’t trust them!

All levels of government need to change the way that China is exerting too much political pressure and ownership of Australia as if it is now a part of the vast Chinese empire.

I would not be surprised if Tang’s path to Council is proven to be invalid with the use of non citizens living temporarily in the Hobart Municipality. The Electoral office will be under pressure to be faithful to Australian law!

Pity the lack of direction to redesign what used to be a good site for commenting and active argument. Was change necessary as the site was functioning extremely well?
As mainly local government elections are being held during the TT “breakdown”, we are no longer active in debate to make a better future!
It seems apart from Ms Hickey’s comments in the Mercury the State remains without “leadership” and direction.

Rob, Tasmanian Times is being progressively updated using an entirely new format to make the site more convenient for readers with mobile devices.

      I agree with Rob.

Regarding the timing of the LG elections, has TT been nobbled?
