Glenorchy City Council will hold a budget briefing session on Tuesday 19 June 2018 from 6pm at the Moonah Arts Centre.
Mayor Kristie Johnston and General Manager Tony McMullen will both present on the draft budget and give an overview of challenges, legacy issues, financial objectives, potential measures to be taken and the proposed rate revenue increase.
Mayor Johnston said this is a particularly important year to take our draft budget to the community as there will be a significant rate revenue increase.
“We want the community to have a clear understanding of the circumstances that have brought us to the current financial climate, we now find ourselves in,” she said.
“The aim of the new Council is to be open, honest and transparent with the community and we want the community to see Aldermen and management working together constructively, effectively and efficiently.
“We have looked at all options before coming to a final proposal for a rate revenue increase, which we will announce at the briefing session. Naturally, the budget still has to be adopted at our Council meeting on Monday 25 June 2018.
Questions will be taken at the end of the session.
