• Isla MacGregor: Amnesty International’s Sex Trade Policy – Rights for Whom?
Simone is the Director of NorMAC, a secular organisation directed by and for survivors of commercial sexual exploitation in Australia. As a survivor of prostitution, Simone has a keen interest in sharing her understanding of the issues involved in commercial sexual exploitation, and the alternative legislative approaches to those issues. Simone’s intimate knowledge of the sex industry coupled with a passionate commitment to supporting women in the sex trade led her to take on the role of director of the Nordic Model Australia Coalition (NorMAC).
Isla is a former member of Amnesty International Australia and spokesperson for Whistleblowers Tasmania since 1996. Isla’s research has included numerous social justice issues involving corruption, reform of the justice system, and effective whistleblower protection laws for both the private and public sectors. Isla advocates for victims of sexual exploitation and worked with the Tasmanian Coalition for Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse in 2003.
