Labor Leader Bryan Green believes Tasmanians have a right to know who’s doing the work on the $30 million Spirit of Tasmania refurbishments.

“This is a big project being paid for with the money of Tasmanian taxpayers,” Mr Green said.

“People have a right to know if the work is being undertaken by local, national or international crews.

“The Government is obliged to be up front with Tasmanians about the employment arrangements of the refurbishments.

“It’s not a big ask to confirm how many foreign workers are employed on the ship in Sydney.

“The Liberals’ claims of xenophobia are ridiculous, this is simply about knowing how taxpayers’ money is being spent and who’s benefitting from it.

“Will Hodgman and Rene Hidding made a big deal out of promising to employ Tasmanian workers on this project and they need to tell Tasmanians whether they’ve broken that promise.”
