The Bob Brown Foundation is hosting a series of events at The Peacock Theatre in Hobart about the Tarkine. Integral to our campaign to protect the Tarkine is to host public talks so people can hear tales from the advocates past and present working for protection of this wild place, see images of the wild and scenic beauty and help raise funds for the Foundation’s Tarkine campaign.
This Saturday night, the second in our series will hear from guest speakers, Senator Christine Milne and Clyde Mansell, Chair of the Aboriginal Land Council and community elder.
Images of the Tarkine will also be shown accompanied by Tasmanian guitarist Julius Schwing, the slide show will be curated by renowned Tasmanian photographer, Wolfgang Glowacki.
“The politics of protection need to change for Tasmania’s unique Tarkine region to have the remarkable natural and cultural values preserved for future generations. It is not good enough that the Tasmanian Government is ushering the ongoing loss of this natural ecosystem and damage to the globally significant cultural values.
At the Bob Brown Foundation we are campaigning for a Tarkine National Park and World Heritage listing through maximum public exposure for the threatened landscape,
“Tarkine Tales provides the people of Hobart, a unique opportunity to hear from Senator Christine Milne and Aboriginal Land Council’s Chair Clyde Mansell, talk about politics of protection and the Tarkine,” Jenny Weber, Campaign Manager for The Bob Brown Foundation said.
