DPP Ellis sacked, with no payout, over road death 4

DIRECTOR of Public Prosecutions Tim Ellis SC has been sacked for misbehaviour, Premier Will Hodgman said yesterday.

The state’s top prosecutor was convicted in December of negligent driving causing death and given a four-month suspended jail term.

Mr Hodgman said Governor Kate Warner had acted on the advice of Attorney- General Vanessa Goodwin to remove Mr Ellis from office.

Mr Ellis would receive no payout but would be given $290,000 in accrued leave and other entitlements, Mr Hodgman said. He would have to return his government-provided car.
