Bryan Green: Premier must be transparent over Planning Reform Taskforce
Labor Leader Bryan Green today called for transparency over appointments to the new Planning Reform Taskforce.
Mr Green said the Government had so far been unable to answer simple questions.
“This week in Parliament the Government refused to say how much the chair of the new taskforce will be paid,” Mr Green said.
“A month ago we also lodged a straight forward Right to Information request asking for details of when the position of chair was advertised, how many CVs were lodged and how many people were interviewed.
“The department of justice, which oversees planning, had no record of a recruitment process.
“We were referred to the department of economic development, who in turn referred is to the Premier’s own department.
“It is clear the only person who can answer these questions is the Premier himself.
“In the interests of transparency, Will Hodgman should answer these simple questions.
“The Liberals promised to cut boards and committees but since coming to office they have only established new ones.
“Tasmanians are entitled to know how much these new boards are costing.”
