Woolworths Liquor Group’s Cellarmasters Division Launches New Content App, races up the charts

Thursday, 11 July 13: The new Cellarmasters Magazine for iPad app launched last week (https://itunes.apple.com/app/id651351127) is the latest evidence of a trend towards retailers using tablet publishing and content apps to boost their marketing.

Magazine publishers dominate digital and tablet publishing. However, many are rapidly being overtaken by corporate and retail brands, according to Reddo Media, Australia’s number one enterprise app publishing agency.

Whereas many brands already have branded apps to replace specific customer service functions, many are also adopting content apps as a more efficient and interactive method of delivering marketing content to an interested readership.

Cellarmasters partnered with Reddo to develop a complete end-to-end content app strategy, designed to complement existing print strategies with downloadable, interactive and rich media content for tablets.

On 10th and 11th July, one week after launch, Cellarmasters Magazine for iPad was the fourth most downloaded free magazine app in Newsstand (the central place in the App Store for users to read magazines and newspapers) ahead of The Australian Women’s Weekly, Men’s Health Australia and many other popular magazine brands.

Content-based apps allow retail brands to blend the best features of print catalogues with the convenience of ecommerce. Instead of pushing catalogues into mailboxes, consumers can pull the most interesting content to them. This results in greater engagement and relevance, as well as reduced wastage. The content is stored on the mobile device, enabling offline reading and easier future reference.

The new Cellarmasters Magazine for iPad will contain more content than regular print catalogues. Freed of the limitations of print, it becomes easier and more economical to add more editorial content. These extra pages are designed to attract and retain customers by offering relevant advice and items of interest to wine lovers.

Plus readers can purchase wine from within each digital publication served by the content app. The shopping experience is slick and extremely fast, fully integrated with the online store’s API (application programming interface).

New technologies make it possible for brands and retailers to achieve far more with their marketing content than simply replicating a print publication as an online PDF.

Marketers know that to compete in today’s digital landscape, brands need to become publishers. Reddo Media continues to partner with small and large brands to create publishing strategies and develop content apps designed for the modern consumer.
