WILL HODGMAN, Premier never even sought six-month contract for Gadd
The Premier never even asked Scott Gadd whether he’d be prepared to accept a new Head of Agency contract for a period of about six months – the period that the Premier expected him to be head of agency for.
Instead, the Premier signed Mr Gadd up to a new three-year contract, with generous termination provisions, knowing his agency was about to be axed, and there was only a few months’ work in the job.
And Mr Bartlett has the arrogance to call this “normal”.
It is an outrageous abuse of taxpayers’ funds, and more Labor jobs for Labor mates, just as it has been for the last 11 years of Labor.
What’s more the Premier is being completely inconsistent. He’s now claiming credit for reducing Mr Gadd’s contract from five years to three, and renegotiating the contracts of other highly-paid advisers in his office – but trying to imply his hands were tied with the Gadd contract.
That Mr Bartlett never asked Mr Gadd about a six month contract – because he didn’t expect him to accept – is a dereliction of duty.
Because of it, taxpayers are bound to a three-year a six figure salary for a head of agency whose agency is about to disappear.
Meanwhile, questions about whether any deputy secretaries of the soon to be abolished Department of Environment, Parks, Heritage and Arts, have had their contracts renewed in recent times weren’t answered by the Premier today.
