THE Ralph’s Bay development would be a “blight on the landscape”, an inquiry has heard.
Privately-held developers Walker Corporation want to build a 471-lot 97ha canal-style residential development and a 140-berth marina in the bay south-east of Hobart.
The Resource Planning and Development Commission is holding an inquiry prior to deciding whether to approve the development and on what conditions.
In the Commission this morning, the lawyer for Save Ralphs Bay Inc used his opening address to savage the proposal.
Roland Browne told the Commission the bay was an area of great scenic beauty.
“Ralphs Bay is an extraordinary natural feature … by any standard it is a unique environment.
“Save Ralphs Bay for whom I act regard this development as a desecration of Ralphs Bay.
“This proposal would be a blight on the landscape.” Read more here
