Furthermore if you think that any company, should it be forced to close one of its outlets, could simply redeploy the staff to another part of the company beggars belief. Grow up, accept that your actions if successful, will have consequences and that those consequences will affect ordinary Tasmanian families. Do not hide behind your empty rhetoric. That is cowardly. If you want to be a part of a campaign such as this at least be prepared to acknowledge what that actually means.
Please do not contact me again as it is obvious that you are not prepared to be held to account for your actions.

Dear Mr Gutwein,
It was your manipulation of the wording of your press statement that was false and inflammatory.
It was not the fact that jobs may be lost that was my issue with your statement, it was the fact that your comment stated that the TAP campaign was directly against Gunns Staff which it isn’t, it is as stated against Gunns themselves.
What Gunns chooses to do with their employees when one of their branches of business closes is up to them. Gunns can always choose to place those employees in another of their business sectors.
However your response was typical of all politicians in Tasmania, go for the cheap shot and ignore the real problems that are at the heart of this issue.
As you would be aware TAP members alone cannot hope to have any effect on Gunns Mitre 10 stores. However the thousands of Tasmanians that have had enough of Gunns and their political protectors are making life uncomfortable for these stores. The Mitre 10 stores are the only aspect of GUNN’s that is not protected (so far) by it’s political lackey’s.
I say “so far” because I’m sure that if possible the Liberal Party would request that Labor introduces another new law that forbids any citizen from interfering with any Gunns business sector.
As far as employment is concerned, purchases that would have been made at Gunns Mitre 10 stores are now being made at other hardware stores. This means an increase in their clients and sales, which will also lead to more employment by these businesses to cope with the increase in customers and sales. So hopefully as far as employment goes what is lost on the roundabout will be made up on the swings.
To use your own words, “What is very concerning” to me is that you apparently feel comfortable with ignoring the other aspects of my email relating to the support and protection of Gunns given by yourself and and the major political parties.
You stated that “there are many people who work for Gunns who have families” urging me to think of what my actions may mean for them.
I have more insight into the workings and employment practices by Gunns than you are aware of. How can you be comfortable knowing that Gunns themselves have put many timber workers out of business? That those remaining timber workers and contractors are paid so little by Gunns that their employee’s are paid little above the federal minimum wage?
The support for Gunns by these timber workers was displayed by how many of them turned out to protest against those protesting against the pulp mill.
I am as comfortable using the present actions against Gunns Mitre 10 stores as you are in ignoring the voice of the Tasmanian public. The only difference is that I am not being paid for my actions.
Roll on the next elections.

Your own statements confirm my view point.
How can you claim that my statement was full of political hype,
inflammatory and above all else false when in your own words, which I
have for your benefit reprinted above, you confirm exactly what I was
saying about this campaign being an attack on Gunns employees and their
jobs.
What is very concerning is that you apparently feel comfortable with
this strategy and can somehow justify an approach which if successful
can only mean the loss of jobs for local people.
Please consider exactly what you are doing and what the outcome may be.
There are many people who work for Gunns who have families and I urge
you to take a moment to think about what your actions may mean for them.
