Greg Barns, columnist for the Mercury, has issued a writ for defamation against Tasmanian Times.
The writ names Lindsay Tuffin as First Defendant and John Hayward as Second Defendant.
The Supreme Court endorsement of claim says: “The plaintiff’s claim against the defendants is for damages for defamation of the plaintiff contained in statements made in a letter written by the second defendant and published by the first defendant on the Tasmanian Times website on or about 28 August 2006.”
For the time being Tasmanian Times will not be publishing comment on this notification.
But readers can be assured that Tasmanian Times will vigorously defend against this writ.
As will John Hayward.
