The Sweetest Delights Await at Chocolate Winterfest, Latrobe
If you happen to be passing through Latrobe on Sunday, 11 August, you will be surprised at what you see. The town will a hive of activity as patrons escape the bleakness of winter to be amused, astounded and amazed as they celebrate Chocolate Winterfest, Latrobe!
Established in 2004, the festival this year features over 40 activities at 29 venues in and around the town of Latrobe, all with chocolate as their centerpiece, so be prepared and plan your day.
Jump on the continuous hop-on, hop-off free shuttle buses to explore the outlying areas of Latrobe. Indulge in a high tea or truffle-making class at the House of Anvers, visit Rhuby Delights’ resident chocolatier to sample their chocolate-coated, freeze-dried delicacies, enjoy a Fractured Chocolate Fairytale performance, or participate in the Chocolate Poetry Competition. Challenge yourself at Chocolate Chess or admire the decorated chocolate cakes at the Australian Axemans Hall of Fame.
A hive of activity awaits at the Chocolate Corner, where providers of chocolate delights will appease even the most discerning palate. Nearby, all your chocolate-related questions will be answered at The Science of Chocolate. Engage in a Chocolate Reading or revel in chocolate paintings at the Latrobe Arts Hub. Unleash your creativity at Chocolate Paint and Slurp, enjoy candy cocktails at Mackey’s Royal Hotel Bar, or learn about chocolate and wine pairing at BWS.
Join the floral fun of the bloom bar as you create a masterpiece of flowers and chocolate or try your hand at fudge making.
In the centre of Latrobe you will be challenged with Lob A Choc and Match the Chocolate Memory, try crispy bites of chocolate and even get your chocolate like henna body art. Sticky fingers will have you creating your unique take home masterpiece.
As you wander the main street, checking out the popular chocolate themed costumes of Chocolate Wonders of Wearable Art and voting for your favourite: keep an eye out for Charlie’s Golden Ticket during your meanderings.
Experience the magic of music at Crescendo’s Pure Imagination Concert or the Choir of High Hopes Mid-Winter Concert topped off with a chocolatey afternoon tea.
