Media release – Taste of Summer, 27 December 2023

Expanded Taste of Summer starts today

The Taste of Summer is Australia’s biggest food and drink festival and this year, it’s set to get a whole lot bigger.

With the festival to run over nine days from 27 December to 1 January and again from 4 January to 6 January, Taste’s Jarrod Nation says there’s now even more opportunity to enjoy the best Tasmanian produce on the stunning Hobart waterfront at one of Tasmania’s iconic events.

“Over the past two years we’ve listened to feedback from locals, visitors and stallholders and the message is loud and clear: they all love the Taste and they want more of it.

“That’s why this time the Taste will run from today until Saturday, 6 January, with a short break on the 2nd and 3rd of January to allow stallholders to refresh and reset.

“The Taste of Summer is a magnet for locals and visitors and by expanding to nine days over two weeks, we’re giving everyone more of a chance to enjoy what makes Tasmania so special.

“It also provides our stallholders with the opportunity to make the most of the increased numbers that traditionally flock to Hobart’s waterfront over the festive period and into January.

“The Taste will kick off with an evening session today and we look forward to seeing as many people as possible over the nine days of the event.”

Gates will open at 4pm and dancers from Tasmanian Aboriginal traditional and contemporary dance group, pakana kanaplila will appear on the main stage to welcome guests at 4.30pm.
