Lyell Highway bridge repairs
We will be repairing the deck of the Nive River bridge on the Lyell Highway about two kilometres north-west of the Marlborough Highway intersection from Monday, 11 September to Friday, 15 September 2023.
There will be a reduced speed limit and frequent lane closures during our working hours of 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
We will also need to close the bridge to all traffic from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Thursday, 14 September to allow the concrete repairs to set.
Road users are advised to detour via Fourteen Mile Road during the bridge closure or avoid the area if possible. Fourteen Mile Road is unsealed so road users are reminded to drive to the conditions if using this detour.
The detour should not significantly increase travel times for those travelling to the west coast or Hobart, but anyone travelling to Bronte Park from the west should allow up to an extra 40 minutes.
