Two upcoming events will give Tasmanian entrepreneurs a steer on how to ‘premiumise’ their drink products.
The masterclass and subsequent workshop aim to leverage global insights and best practices to provide inspiration, information, and connections for food and beverage businesses.
Craig Ham, moderator and curator of the Premiumising Alcohol Masterclass, said that the future is bright for premium versions of everything.
“And while Brand Tasmania has probably never been stronger, premium product makers and marketers from Tassie can’t simply hang their hats on these favourable ‘tailwinds’.”
The masterclass will seek to “ask the right questions around this thing called ‘premiumisation'”.
Organiser Hazel McTavish-West explained that the session would be led by 6 experts from different backgrounds at different stages of development of a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, to dig deep into the requirements for premiumisation.
“Premium is where many Tasmanian producers need to sit, and whether it’s the story, the ingredients, the serve or the bottle design, there is much to be learned from these people.”
One of the experts is Sam Reid, co-founder director at William Smith & Sons, who will provide a point of view about the importance of provenance in building a premium brand.
“But that provenance is just a starting point and your story and how you tell it are equally or more important,” he said.
I’m hoping for Tasmania to become a world-renowned destination for high quality food and beverage experiences of all kind and spoken about in the same breath as places such as Tuscany and the south of France.”
