Fruit Growers Tasmania is supporting three special screenings of the film ‘Just a Farmer’ across the state.

Just a Farmer is a movie that delves into the resilience, struggles, and triumphs of rural life, shedding light on the challenges faced by farmers and their families.

It explores critical themes such as mental health, the importance of community support, and the profound connection between people and the land they cultivate.

Each event will be more than just a film viewing; it will be a gathering featuring a BBQ before the screening and a post-screening Q&A session with the film’s writer, producer, and executive producer, Leila McDougall.

Peter Cornish, CEO of Fruit Growers Tasmania, expressed his enthusiasm for the events. “We are delighted to work with Anna Henry of Stirling Grove to arrange the community screenings of ‘Just a Farmer’ and to bring the film’s creator, Leila McDougall, to Tasmania,” he said.

Cornish highlighted the film’s significance, noting that it “shines a light on mental health in rural communities.”

He described the screenings as a “rare opportunity to hear firsthand about the making of the movie and the conversations it has sparked across the country.”

Cornish encouraged everyone to attend, emphasising the community-building aspect of the events.

“Let’s come together to be part of something that matters by supporting each other and sharing our own experiences,” he urged.

“Just a Farmer is positioned as more than a story; it’s a movement aimed at raising awareness, sparking vital conversations, and celebrating the strength and solidarity found within rural communities.”
